Our story
From COLANIM to a national voice
The Animal Sciences Students Association of Nigeria (ASSAN) is a dynamic body dedicated to fostering unity among students across the five departments of Animal Sciences. We champion a spirit of oneness — addressing inter-departmental friction and encouraging respect for diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds.
We believe in the power of knowledge and opportunity: creating awareness of scholarships and career prospects, and organising workshops, symposia and social activities that build networks and personal growth. Our partnerships with colleges, unions and external organisations let us advocate for our members.
Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) — formerly UNAAB — is a citadel of learning known for excellence, discipline and morality. Of the five pioneer colleges founded in 1988, the College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM) was among them — and it was this college that gave birth to ASSAN.
